Tesler estudou\u00a0ci\u00eancia da computa\u00e7\u00e3o\u00a0na\u00a0Stanford University\u00a0durante os anos 1960 e trabalhou no\u00a0<em>Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory<\/em>\u00a0daquela institui\u00e7\u00e3o. Entre 1973 e 1980, esteve no Xerox PARC, onde, entre outras coisas, participou do desenvolvimento do\u00a0editor de texto<em> Gypsy<\/em>\u00a0e da\u00a0linguagem de programa\u00e7\u00e3o Smalltalk.
